Mayer Hawthorne is GREATNESS.

I just found out about this guy about a month or two ago.
To describe I'd say this guy is a breath of fresh air, most of the music coming out these days sounds the same, with the exception of this guy. Mayer Hawthorne is takin us back.

Mayer Hawthorne grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, just outside of Detroit, and vividly remembers, as a child, driving with his father and tuning the car radio in to the rich soul and jazz history the region provided. “Most of the best music ever made came out of Detroit,” claims the singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, who counts Isaac Hayes, Leroy Hutson, Mike Terry, and Barry White among his influences, but draws the most inspiration from the music of Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield, and the legendary songwriting and production trio of Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Eddie Holland Jr.

1st Annual Ottawa Community Record Show

There's going to be a Community Record show in Ottawa at the end of next month. There was another a few months back, but was unable to attend because of work. Well any who, Im going to make it to this one! I hope.

The event takes place at the Sandy Hill Community Centre, so i imagine a huge gymnasium with tons of milk crates filled with dusty lp's dying to be played.

Limited Edition Serato Scratch Vinyl - Shibuya Breaks

White Vinyl
Stokyo & Serato Collabo

I got my hands on some limited edition vinyl. Serato teamed up with those at Stokyo; the end product. Shibuya Breaks.

One side of the vinyl is a scratch record; lots of samples and a few beats to scratch. The other side is a Control Vinyl to be used with Serato Scratch Live, only difference is.... Mine's White!

They only released 1000 copies of the white, I got my hands on a pair.

Then because I was feeling greedy, So I bought 1/250 of the even more limited edition Smokey Grey Shibuya Breaks bundle

The bundle came with a pair of the smoke grey vinyl, a pair of slipmats from Dr. Suzuki
& some stickers?? Mine should arrive any day now
